From the Randall (Herbert) Freedom Summer Photographs. Photograph (positive image of a negative) of five African American girls from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, posing for the camera in front of True Light Baptist Church during Freedom Summer, 1964. They are (from left to right) Otis Ruth Travis, Veronica Carter, Glenda Polk, Dorothy Jean Patton, and Joyce McGowan. Affixed to the tree near the girls is a hand-made sign reading "MFDP", which stands for the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party.
