From the Harwell (J.D.) Letters. Letter from James Daniel Harwell to J.E. Boos of Albany, New York, dated 22 February, 1923. This is one in a series of 3 letters in the collection that describe Harwell's experiences during the siege of Vicksburg in 1863 and his unit's action during the Atlanta campaign of 1864. In this letter, Harwell also discusses his interactions after the war with former Union soldiers. Harwell was a private in Company I, 20th Alabama Infantry, during the Civil War.
